This one obviously didn't, but that was a subjective thing - you can't deny his talent though. A great writer.

Helen, it was hard work but I'm glad I read it.Yvonnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10712024237175327405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7387590336118749686.post-13743145810297574022008-05-28T21:54:00.000+01:002008-05-28T21:54:00.000+01:00I find Graham Greene a bit hit and miss as well. ...I find Graham Greene a bit hit and miss as well. It's not often I really love a book, but this one I did. I thought it was really cleverly crafted - including people making pacts/ hating a God that they didn't believe existed.

Most books just wash over me but I was so impressed by this one. Incidentally, I thought it was much better than the film.

But having said all that, I guess if the central dilemmas in it don't interest you then the book wouldn't appeal particularly.Random Reflectionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07961882549625406258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7387590336118749686.post-54909420945574264412008-05-28T18:53:00.000+01:002008-05-28T18:53:00.000+01:00I haven't read the book or seen the film either, b...I haven't read the book or seen the film either, but I have read a Graham Greene novel (can't remember which one, didn't like it!) and agree that he writes very well.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05986874444030474719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7387590336118749686.post-55605046852596541782008-05-28T17:03:00.000+01:002008-05-28T17:03:00.000+01:00I've never read it either or seen the film:-(re yo...I've never read it either or seen the film:-(

re your previous post I love Anne Tyler.
