Striving to be a better bear

I just watched Stephen Fry on Shrink Rap and googled him afterwards - and found this quote:

"One of the nice things about looking at a bear is that you know it spends 100 per cent of every minute of every day being a bear. It doesn't strive to become a better bear. It doesn't go to sleep thinking, "I wasn't really a very good bear today". They are just 100 per cent bear, whereas human beings feel we're not 100 per cent human, that we're always letting ourselves down. We're constantly striving towards something, to some fulfilment."
And I didn't post that just because I love bears.

*chuckles* That is a great quote. I can't stop picturing a lone bear in the woods berating itself for being a bad bear and not trying harder to be better. There's a lesson here, I'm sure ;)

What about the big scary hairy gay men who call themselves bears. I wonder are they content at just being bears too.

Good quote, certainly fits into the modern world of ever demanding pressure to achieve. Though I wonder if some would use "I was being a 100% me" as an excuse.

Angie picturing a berating bear was the best part...

Conortje I love the big hairy gay men, they might look scary but they are adorable.

Paul I can imagine plenty of people out there who being "100% them" is a hideous situation for everyone around them.
