Urban gardening

The Ours has always dreamed of leading a sustainable, simple and self-sufficient lifestyle. Unfortunately we live in a one bedroom apartment in the city centre. But where there's a will there's a way - so he has transformed our balcony into an urban veggie patch. He planted most of it two weeks ago and it's coming along nicely.

The plants that are kept inside the apartment are placed just behind the long panel blinds we usually have drawn.

That's a nice idea, and what a green thumb he has! I would love to grow fresh herbs, but my thumb is is a bit black. ;)

I hate gardening but should really be out there dealing with my wild garden not here blogging!

I could always lend my garden to The Ours!

I've never been that interested in gardening until recently when I've found myself contemplating having a herb garden. Unfortunately I don't have the best track record with plants so I might have to get in some gardening practice before I end up a herb garden.
Your plants look very healthy so The Ours must be a dab hand at gardening already.

i was at the farmers market yesterday and saw something they called "salad bowls," which were just round bowls planted with lettuce. the idea being you could just rip some off and eat it and more would grow.

it seemed really cool to me. it had never occurred to me to plant lettuce anywhere except in the actual ground.

your plants look great.
