I finally took the plunge and printed out the first chapter of my novel, in all its double spaced glory. Needless to say it ran to quite a few pages...
So now I'm heading out to buy more printer paper, a folder to keep the printed result along with stuff for my interview tomorrow.
I've also started reading the editing/publishing books I ordered weeks ago. So far they've made me see the big picture. The job is only a tool to help me become a writer - it shouldn't distract me from what I really want to do.
I feel like I've just woke up from a very deep sleep - I'm back, baybee!

How exciting, good luck with the interview and the editing
That sounds really positive - great attitude. Good luck with the interview.

Alix and JJ, thanks to you both! I actually emailed my ex boss today to ask for a reference - and she told me I could do a few short term projects with them if I was interested. So I'm feeling pretty good about my job prospects!
I've also printed out most of my novel and arranged it in a folder - now all I need to do is sit down and read the bloody thing!
Well done on being back! Sounds like things are going well. When I read my first draft I thought it was utter twaddle but that thought didn't depress me, just made me more determined. Hope you feel like that too (not the twaddle bit but the determined bit!)
Thanks Helen, your posts about editing are really encouraging and motivating. I just hope I can be as positive as you when I read it...should be in the next few days.
Well done and good luck with the editing. I love your attitude!
Good luck with the editing and the interview. Your positive attitude is infectious. :)
Thanks Cathy and Angie! I couldn't help feeling a little proud of myself when I printed out all those pages. Ok, it might be mostly rubbish - but it's MY rubbish goddamit! I produced something. It feels good.
