Playboy

The sun is shining!

I can't wait to get out there...

The Ours' parents are visiting this weekend. We're going to see a new version of The Playboy of the Western World by Bisi Adigun and Roddy Doyle on Saturday night. I haven't been to the Abbey in so long, hope I don't ruin it for everyone by coughing like a 60 a day chainer.

oh, jed, tell us about it! i love that play. saw it at the guthrie a few years ago after joe dowling came over here to be artistic director. (he used to be artistic director at the abbey.)

and a few years ago at the abbey i saw "behold the sons of ulster marching toward the somme" and left the theater sobbing my eyes out.

hope your cough holds out.

Lucky you, my cough was very well behaved in the cinma last week so I hope yours is too!

Laurie, I love the play too. It's actually been rewritten so that the lead character is Nigerian and it's set in Dublin - but apparently it still keeps the spirit of the original. I've not watched Behold the Sons... but I definitely will now that I know your reaction! Thanks!

Beccy, that's a relief, I really hope I don't get any funny looks (from the audience AND the cast)
