Scribbler's Corner was cancelled, but as I'd already left the house I went shoe shopping - and ended up with these.
Apparently ASICS are now called Onitsuka. A further example of the world conspiring to make me feel old. Dayum.

Oh dear. I have no grasp of fashion - they just look like trainers to me. Sorry, sorry, sorry!
Helen, no need to be sorry - they are still called trainers! It's just the brand name that has changed. Cue confused conversation with the salesperson!
Wow, I had no idea. I don't even know if I can pronounce that correctly. And yet I think I want a pair... ;)
Best I stick to shuffling about in my slippers...
Slippers are always trendy :)
Beth, I just said: "I want" *point* "DEM!"
Jen, I'm trendiest in my fella's socks. He's a size 11 so they are all wrinkly and saggy on my feet. So cool.
Very cool I like those. Shame about scribblers corner but your new shoes are very cool, and made cooler by their unpronounceable name. I'm told that's how it works :)
(sheesh unpronounceable takes along time to type!)
I still think of them as plimsoles. I'm so lost when trying to remember what everything is now called.
Alix, unpronounceable - yep, took me a while to type out too!
Debs, I was really confused. The salesperson was lovely though!
Ooh Tigers! Very pretty. I am a covetous Catherine. Totally adequate retail therapy for lack of scribbling!
Catherine, they are pretty aren't they? They made up nicely for the lack of scribbling.
Maz, The Ours and I had matching backpacks for a while - we were slagged by everyone, especially the check in staff at airports. I wouldn't recommend it. ;)
Nice shoes, but they look as if you might need to do some serious exercise in those, so they would never do for me!
Maddie, they may look the part but I reckon they'd fall apart if I ran in them - for short walks to the pub only!
Ohhh! Nice purchase! Green is my favourite colour! You did the shoe shopping, but where are those words :P
Holler, I love green too! I'll put together the words as soon as I can.
They look great - and I bet you look young out wearing them ;-)
Conortje, I look positively sprightly!
I like the look of those. They could even inspire me to go jogging or something equally radical. Never heard of the brand though!
Karen, I was inspired to do a Fame-esque routine in the middle of Grafton Street. But as I'd probably get carted away by the white coats, I resisted.
