Brazilia

About the hugely painful experience - I went to Brazilia on South William Street, who specialise in waxing and such things. The therapist was great. Apparently when the first big strip came off, the look on my face screamed: "Oh my God I've made a huge mistake!" so she started chatting non-stop to distract me. It was painful, excruciating at times, but the therapist was very quick and the time sped by.

She had changed from full to part-time hours recently as she had started doing special effects makeup in films, so I asked her about that and it was fascinating and a great distraction.

We're about to leave for our holiday now - thanks for your bon voyage comments, I appreciate them! Not sure if I'll have time to post while I'm away, so will probably be offline until next week. Be good y'all!

Pain and gaming

Yesterday I got my grubby hands on a classic controller for the Wii, so now I can download and play such classics as Super Mario World, which I used to play religiously during my babysitting days (donkey's years ago obviously, but I still remember it well.) I'm playing it at the moment as I'm a little bit addicted, but also because I'm getting a Brazilian wax this afternoon before my holiday. You know, to my mind off the inevitable pain and embarrassment of having my legs in the air while someone methodically tears all the hair away from my very sensitive private parts.

I'm a little scared to be honest. Could I have gone with a bog standard wax instead? Am I a masochist? Do I really believe that I could wear a bikini on the beaches in Chicago, where the wind blows right through you for a short cut?

Well I've booked it now, and my voucher for the waxing place is running out soon, so it's show time. Denial is a wonderful thing.
