An awful racket

Back to writing after a very long weekend's break. This is the second day I've been waiting for the builders to arrive; they are due to fit extra vents to our bedroom window because some apartments have mould due to a build up of condensation. As you can imagine this is a noisy job. As I write this they are working on a flat in a separate block to mine, the noise of drilling and sawing amplified by the development's tall walls and shared courtyard. I was in front of my laptop at eight o'clock this morning, hoping to get some work done before they arrived at my doorstep.

So far I've managed 1500 words and I doubt I'll write more today. I've reached a crucial point of the story and have no idea what's going to happen next; I suspect the last 300 words merely delayed the inevitable decision. I'll probably spend the rest of the day figuring out my character's next move while tackling the chores I've put off over the weekend.

I hope you all had a relaxing and restful Easter break.

1500 words sounds pretty good to me.

I think you should get away from the noise and visit a park or something for inspiration on a nice sunny day like today.

The chores can wait until tomorrow.

Beccy, you are absolutely right. As soon as the builders fit the vents I am out of here!
