Hungover today. Went to the Irish Film Institute's showing of All About Eve with Brisbane's Answer to Nigella Lawson aka Michelle last night. A great film and a gorgeous cinema; their yearly membership is only 20 Euro and allows you to buy up to four tickets for a reduced price amongst other things.
After the film we popped over to The Mezz for a quick drink...then another...until I found myself stumbling home at two in the morning. My head still hasn't cleared and I'm not divulging today's word count in case I have to delete it all tomorrow.
Alcoholic writers (of which there seems to be so many) how do you do it? On second thoughts, don't tell me. I don't need any encouragement.

THe Mezz has stolen many a sober night from me.
I think my word count might be improved by a little drinkipoo. Or two :o) Hope you're feeling better.
Oh I love that film, one of my favourites.
Sounds like you had a great time. I shouldn't worry about the word count you can always catch up tomorrow.
Darren, it's like a vortex that sucks away your soberness. Or something.
Karen, I had a dodgy moment an hour ago but I think it's over. Damn these drawn-out hangovers! I never used to get them in my twenties.
Debs, I'd never seen the film before and I loved it, it was great to see it on the big screen. I'm determined to catch up!
Hangovers get worse with age - sad but true:-)
Hope you're feeling better now!
Lane, today's hangover reminded me that I will never experience the heady days of my twenties, where I would feel immediately better following a mere shower and piece of toast. Am feeling better now thanks to homemade wedges and baked beans!
Personaly, I write fantastic poetry when I'm drunk. Really it's incredible... takes my breath away - like that song by Berlin.
...then of course I sober up and read it again... not so good then. I don't know why?!
I mean, it can't be the drink fooling me... it's never the drink. It's gotta be a temporal thing... some kind of context related Art thing, no?
Toby, I reckon it's temporal. Stephen King can't remember writing Cujo because every time he sat at his desk he was plastered - that amazed me! How did it make any sense, let alone get published?
I have to have an afternoon nap I'm afraid. Not very productive x
Hi Yvonne! Thanks for visiting my blog, Send Chocolate. I love your blog... Ireland and writing, well-written writing at that= win. I gave you a coveted spot in my Google Reader.
I enjoyed your blog, and will read regularly. I fancy myself a writer, but have not done anything yet. I am working towards it, though.
T.
Helen, now why didn't I think of that? Will have to try it next time.
TLC, thank you! I really liked your post on those twitter spammers, you really rallied me to immediately start going through my followers. I will be reading your blog closely too!
I too am completely rubbish at the drink thing. I either can't drink anything at all, or I can't remember how to say 'no.' No in betweens for me!
JJ, I don't know the meaning of moderation either - it's all or nothing!
Ah the morning after but was the night before worth it? I always seem to have my best times when I planning on just a quick one and then it is 5 hours later!
I'm ashamed to confess that I can write whether sloshed or not. I'm not entirely sure what this says about me or the general standard to my typing. Odd, but true.
I haven't seen that film; will have to seek it out. Hope you're feeling more lively today.
Oh dear, how's the head now? You obviously need a bit more practice, that would be it.
Just fell into your blog from Kat and shall be back!
Looks great!
M&T it was well worth it, and I agree those are the best nights!
Jen, I'm not sure if it would be a good thing if I could drink while sloshed - hangovers keep me on the straight and narrow most of the time... Feeling much better thanks!
Maddie, more practice shall be had then! Thanks for the tip! ;) Am much better now, thanks.
Jan, thanks for visiting, awh you're sweet!
Oh, I miss watching classic films in the IFI...
Red, I'll definitely have to go to more of them.
