Crochet is Crack

I finished my scarf. W00T!

Yesterday I found out that I'm starting work on Monday, so I decided to be the girl-about-town that my friends think I am (instead of the pj wearing hermit that writers really are) and 'did lunch' at Juice with a copy of Brideshead Revisited. So far I'm really enjoying it. Later I cleared Hickeys out of yarn and bought some crochet books. Needless to say I am completely addicted - Michelle calls crochet and ravelry 'crack' and she's absolutely right.

So the next stage of my writing career starts Monday. Luckily I only live thirty minutes walk away from the office so I'll have plenty of time to write in the evenings. I'm a little nervous that it will backfire and I'll stop writing, but I don't think that will happen. I'm in too deep at this stage.

No plans this weekend, we're just going to relax and potter around. Have a wonderful one wherever you are.

I haven't actually read Brideshead Revisted, but loved the series way back in the 90s or was it the 80s?

I'm sure you'll be find writing once you start work on monday. I'm usually okay though if I've had a particularly tiring day at work I may do less or give it a miss and relax for a bit.

Is that your scarf? Is that the actual one you made?? If so, it is utterly gorgeous! Make me one, please!! I'd pay you for it and everything!!

Good luck with the new job :-)

Yeah, what Tam said!

I've never read Brideshead Revisited either. I am in some sort of cultural and crochet void.

If that is the scarf you made, it is utterly beautiful, a sideline on Etsy perhaps?
I read Brideshead years ago and seem to remember the first half being much better than the second. I still want to see the film but it's been and gone here.
Enjoy the weekend and goodluck for Monday :)

Good luck for Monday and I have no doubt you'll keep writing. You are so committed x

Debs, I think the series was in the 80s, there's a picture of it on the front of the book.

Tam, it is my scarf and thank you so much! And of course I'll make you one - perhaps I'll make a few and then give them away on this blog!

Jen, I know, I can't believe I haven't read it yet.

M&T, thank you! It's a perfect scarf for beginngers, the edges hide a multitude of sins.

Helen, thank you I am hoping I keep up the pace.

Love the scarf! I've just started knitting a new one, a sure sign autumn is here.

That's a fab scarf! You've certainly learnt quickly!

All the best for Monday and enjoy the rest of the weekend:-)

The scarf is so gorgeous, Yvonne. You must be a natural born chrocheter is that a word? A scarf contest would be good.

Good luck for Monday, you will keep writing, but follow Debs' example if you have a tiring day.

Lane, thanks!

Pat, thank you so much, I'm hoping that I'll keep at it and I'm sure with all your encouragement that I will.

I read Brideshead Revisited years ago... but I'm a complete nitwit when it comes to crocheting. I am GREEN with envy at your gorgeous green scarf.

And the nice thing is, I'd need to buy a new coat if it was that colour, too! So it's a win-win :-)

JJ, so was I only four days ago, but it is so easy to pick up.

Tam, it's always great to have an excuse to shop!

Annie, thank you so much.

Catherine, nice one, you're going to love it.

Hi Yvonne, the scarf looks great, well done! I saw your tweet re online yarn shops. The only place other than This is Knit that I've ordered from is http://www.paradisefibers.net/ . The yarn came from the states and came very quickly....when you place your order they have to calculate the postage to ireland so they will park your order on their system and then email you with the postage amount...then you can go back anc finish placing your order. Hope that helps!

Wow that scarf is soooo pretty. Just like store bought!

I'm on a 'yarn diet' at the moment and trying to get through as much of my stash before my trip to NY when I will buy up big, baby! After NY I should have enough to last me through the winter.

This is Knit has just opened a new store at Powerscourt. I checked it out on the weekend and it has a great range for a special project.

Goodluck with the new job!

That's always my worry when I start looking for work, but I'm at it again, because the writing doesn't solve the finances! ;)
I think I need to pull out my knitting needles again for a bit of yarn therapy. Of course my scarves aren't half as gorgeous as yours!
I saw the recent movie and enjoyed it and the book is now on the toppling TBR pile. I'm interested to hear what you think.
