Yukky

The new job is going very well, everyone is very friendly and they've arranged a long handover so I'm not floundering in the deep end. I was exhausted yesterday afternoon but as any job comes with a steep learning curve I just thought my brain was short-circuiting. Unfortunately when I got home I collapsed into bed with a nasty sore throat and tight chest.

As calling in sick on during your first week at work is tantamount to career suicide, I doped myself up this morning and dragged my sorry state in. Luckily everyone was very sympathetic and I was able to leave work a little earlier today.

Needless to say I haven't done any writing yet this week as I've been too busy lying in bed while whinging to The Ours about how sick I am. I love a good moan.

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon - that cold is a nasty one. I'm so glad the new job is going well and don't worry about writing until you're back to 100%!!

Starting a new job is tiring enough without a bug too. Dr Lane prescribes warm blankets and drugs. And as many moans as you like. And don't fret about the writing!:-)

What dreadful timing, poor you.

There's nothing wrong with having a good rant, says she who never stops having them.

Hope you're feeling much better by tomorrow.

Oh!! Don't pass it onto me! I feel horrendously unsympathetic but there's a man at work with a horrible cold and I all but shrink from him when I see him. Hubby also says he feels snivelly. I'm thinking positive and determined not to get sick. Auditioning with a croak is not going to help my chances at all.

PS. Hope you feel better soon...

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! I've just got rid of an awful throat bug - hope it's not the one you've got because it took me four agonising weeks to get rid of!! Don't worry about the writing and moan lots!!!

Oh dear, you look after yourself and don't try to do too much while you're feeling poorly. I'm not surprised you feel yucky x

Get better soon :-)

A good moan is very therapeutic. Mr B gets it in the ear all the time about all manner of random stuff.

Sorry your feeling yukky, very bad timing with the new job and all.
Get better soon

I repeat 'Dr Lane's' prescription.

Get well soon, Yvonne

Sorry to hear about the yucky bug, but I'm glad to hear you like the job. Take it easy and give yourself some good rest time when you're not working.

Oh dear that's very bad timing, but mostly horrible for you. I hope you feel better soon.

Get well soon Yvonne! Plenty of time for the writing, just concentrate on getting better.

A new member of staff at the library came down with a nasty cough/cold during her first week. I'm convinced it's mandatory with a new job. Like you, she daren't take any time off, even though we begged her to (not that we're selfish or anything!) Hope you feel better soon :o)

It's like "fresher's flu" - applies to new jobs too - you *have* to be sick in your first week. :( Hope you feel better! :0)

Shame you caught a bug, dear one. I hope you have educated the Ours about the joys of constant hot water bottles and decent soup. Hope you feel better soon.

You poor thing. You are very good to go into work. I hope they appreciate you.

I think I might take Dr Lane's advice too. Why should not having a cold stop me?

Write in your head for the moment.
